Good evening, friends, and welcome to my substack! I’m creating this sort of on a whim, but with a lot of intention behind it, and for the year ahead.
We are at the start of a new year, and as I mapped out my goals for 2025 I realized they include a lot of writing. I want to finish my current WiP (a sapphic period romance set in the late 1920s), write a bunch of poetry, and several short stories.
In addition to that I have a deep passion for the entirety of Middle Earth and am about to begin rereading The Silmarillion. It’ll be my second read through and I’m very excited. Since Tolkien heavily inspires me (as he does many), I figured it would be apt to combine both my love of writing and my love of the professor’s stories into one substack.
What you can expect to find here:
-posts about my thoughts and opinions on The Silmarillion (and other Tolkien books)
-original queer short stories
-poetry
-original photos (my other passion is photography)
I’ll be honest, right now I don’t know how often I’ll end up posting. My goal is at least once a week (either on Sundays or Wednesdays), but part of the reason I wanted to start a substack is because it’s a way I can monetize my writing. I’m currently out of work, and my unemployment will soon run out, so my primary focus is of course fixing that problem. Until that problem gets resolved, or I can make enough doing content creation and freelance writing, getting enough income will always be my primary focus.
My overall goal for making this space is to share my thoughts and stories with the world, and to connect with other writers and Tolkien enthusiasts. If this sounds like you or something you’d be interested it, hit the subscribe button and settle in with a hot drink.
All original short stories and poetry will be available to paid subscribers. Posts talking about the Professor, Middle Earth, etc will also be found there for the most part, though I will keep a few of those available at the free tier so that people can sample my work.
